Introduction
Ergonomics is not a new science. Because workers come in a variety of sizes and shapes, workstations cannot be designed to accommodate everyone, ergonomics is used to study the relationship between the work environment and the human body “Fitting the job to the worker” can readily be accomplished by performing the first ergonomic evaluations on the management staff. Typically several deficiencies will be identified in these initial reviews resulting in management understanding the need for a corporate program.
Practical applications include performing specific individual ergonomic evaluations, typically because of a complaint or claim. This often leads to other employees wanting a review. A group presentation is the most effective to best utilize the employees time efficiently and reach the largest audience.
